Fredericksburg Emergency Medical Alliance (FEMA) physicians & emergency-trained nurses provide emergency medical diagnosis and treatment at the Emergency & Outpatient Center at Lee's Hill. This is a 24-hour, full service emergency room with an ambulance bay for rescue squads & on-site imaging & lab services. Services are backed by acute care services at Mary Washington Hospital.

SANE - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

FEMA understands the emotional & physical trauma of an assault or similar crime. Our specially-trained medical team works with victims to support their dignity & personal needs while taking the necessary steps to comply with local jurisdictions & law enforcement. 

Our forensic nurse examiners have specialized training and certifications. The SANE designation indicates Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. They are prepared to work with all types of victims including:

  • Sexual assaults (pediatric, adolescent, and adult)

  • Domestic violence/abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Elder neglect/abuse

  • Child neglect/abuse

  • Physical assault

  • Traumatic injuries (gun shot wound, stabbings, etc.)

  • Exploitation/human trafficking
